It was about 6 days work with me labouring for Dan.
I made the door and window formers and we put wire mesh on the outside of the blockwork to tie in the stone facing which comes next.
It was pretty windy when Dan was building the gable end apex but it held up ok. Darren the joiner then came back and completed the roof woodwork- ready for felt and battens now.
Dan sorting out the DPC
Making progress in January- constantly having to bail out the inside. Dan built the corners then filled in- one side of the original dwarf wall was slightly higher than the other so Dan levelled it up.
Great progress being made in such a short period of time- the blocks were always wet- we covered them to dry them out.
Placing the insulation in the cavity and keeping the cavity clear of cement- celotex tape was the best from tool station.
Window frames and scaffolding up for the first lift, Dan was very strong- lifting blocks with his fingers only.
Lintel on
Progress gable end ready - hard work putting the blocks up
This is the lintel over the doorway- originally for a window but the windows only have one course of block over them.
View form the side the steel plate will support the stone facing
Darren the roofing joiner came and made a wooden pattern for the gable end
